• Prize-winner at the International Festival and Competition in Ruza (2009)
• Prize-winner at the I International Young Opera Singers’ Competition in Memory of Maxim Mikhailov (Cheboksary, 2010)
• Prize-winner at the International Nadezhda Obukhova Young Opera Singers’ Competition (Lipetsk, 2012)
• Prize-winner at the I All-Russian young vocalists’ competition The Future of Musical Theatre which marked one hundred and ten years since the birth of the composer Vissarion Shebalin (Omsk, 2012)

Born in the Sverdlovsk Region.
Graduated with distinction in 2009 from the vocals faculty of the Russian Gnesins’ Academy of Music (class of Professor Sheveleva).
From 2009 she was a post-graduate student at the Russian Gnesins’ Academy of Music (class of Professor Sheveleva).
From 2007 she was a leading soloist with the Petit Opera creative group (project of the Board of the Open Stage project of the City of Moscow Department of Culture), where she performed lead roles in operas by Henry Purcell as part of the project Baroque Music.
From 2008 she was a guest soloist with the Teatro Ventidio Basso (Ascoli Piceno, Italy).
In 2011 she became a grant-recipient of the Wagner Prize.
Since 2010 she has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers. Under the direction of Larisa Gergieva she has appeared in concerts at leading European venues in Milan, Rome, Bari, Stockholm, Venice (Teatro La Fenice), Vienna (Odeon Theater), Saint-Tropez, Cannes and London (Wigmore Hall) among other cities.
In February 2013 Maria Bayankina made her debut at the Mariinsky Theatre as Violetta in the opera La traviata under Valery Gergiev.

Repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre includes:
Kupava (The Snow Maiden)
Tsaritsa Militrisa (The Tale of Tsar Saltan)
Tatiana (Eugene Onegin)
Violetta (La traviata)

In June 2013 as part of celebrations marking one century since the birth of Tikhon Khrennikov she took part in a series of anniversary concerts featuring Valery Gergiev. Maria regularly takes part in the Moscow Easter Festival as well as festivals directed by Denis Matsuev such as Stars on Baikal (Irkutsk), Crescendo (Moscow) and Denis Matsuev and Friends (Novosibirsk and Tyumen among other cities).
