Evgeny Vodolazkin’s acclaimed novel Lavr comes to the Mariinsky Theatre in an unusual symphonic performance-concert featuring actor Yura Borisov, writer Evgeny Vodolazkin and conductor Pyotr Dranga. The production brings together literature, music and stage imagery, creating a theatrical interpretation of Vodolazkin’s story rather than a conventional concert.

Yura Borisov and Evgeny Vodolazkin appear as readers, giving the literary narrative a direct stage presence, while Pyotr Dranga conducts the musical component of the performance.

The result promises an atmospheric encounter between Vodolazkin’s rich historical prose, Borisov’s distinctive screen and stage presence, and live symphonic music — offering a different way to experience one of contemporary Russian literature’s most widely known works.
