Swan Lake is one of the most famous classical ballets—a true gem in Tchaikovsky’s repertoire. The Petipa-Ivanov production is widely recognized as the pinnacle of Russian ballet.
The story of Prince Siegfried and the beautiful Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by the curse of the evil sorcerer Rothbart, will leave no one indifferent.
The libretto of Swan Lake reflects motifs close to Russian literature of the era: the pursuit of beauty and ideal—and the impossibility of attaining it, hope for happiness, betrayal, and the redemption of guilt at the cost of one’s own life.
