Asdahl Rokkones

Ola Asdahl Rokkones (1983) lives in Tromsø in the north of Norway, and is one of few saxophonists working both within classical music and jazz. As a classical musician, he has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras in Norway, Russia, Germany and France, and he has premiered music by composers such as Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen, Alexander Manotskov, Martin Romberg, Bodvar Drotninghaug Moe, Bjørn Breimo, Lars Skoglund, Kjell Habbestad and Erik Stifjell. As a jazz musician he is highly profiled through several orchestras including the Mike del Ferro Quintet, Marit Sandvik & Nova Onda and the Magyar Hot Club. In 2010 he was selected to be the Norwegian representative of the prestigious European Jazz Orchestra. He has released two albums – Pirate Bay with DripP (2010), and Jazz Poetry with Cats vs. Kitchen Utensils (2013). He has also worked with ballet dancers and actors on various performances.

He has studied with several acclaimed teachers including Vibeke Breian, Jean-Yves Fourmeau and John Pål Inderberg, and completed his musical education at the Music Conservatoire in Tromsø in 2007.
