Irina Mataeva
Soprano
Prize-winner at the All-Russian Gulyaev Opera Singers' Competition (Tyumen, 1997) and the VI International Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers' Competition (St Petersburg, 2000).
Born in Tyumen.
Graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1999.
Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 1998.

Louisa (Betrothal in a Monastery);

Gerda (The Story of Kai and Gerda);

and Klingsor?s Flower Maiden (Parsifal).
Has performed as Prilepa (The Queen of Spades) in Los Angeles and as Micaela (Carmen) with the Washington Opera (conductor – Placido Domingo).
Made her debut at the Metropolitan-opera as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. In 2005 at the Opera de Marseilles she participated in a production of Tomasi?s Sampiero Corso (performing as Vannina).
Has given concerts in London, Milan, Bordeaux, Bruges, Biarritz, San Francisco and Buenos Aires (Teatro Colon).
Has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to Finland, China, the UK (Royal Opera House, Covent Garden), Germany, Italy (La Scala) and the USA (Metropolitan Opera).
