Mikhail Troyan was born in Dubna, Moscow Region. He began to study music at the age of six. Graduated from music school having studied the violin, from the Arkhangelsk School of Music in vocal studies and from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1998 (where he also studied vocals). Soloist with the St Petersburg Chamber Opera Company from 2000 and soloist with the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Opera and Ballet Theatre from 2006. Has appeared at the Sobinov Festival in Saratov (as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, 2007), a Russian music festival in Pskov (Gryaznoi in The Tsar’s Bride, 2011), the festival Under the Sign of Eternity in St Petersburg (Gryaznoi in The Tsar’s Bride, 2011) and the festival Opera for All in St Petersburg (Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta, 2012). Frequently performs in concert.
Since 2013 he has appeared in Mariinsky Theatre productions of Boris Godunov, Lohengrin, Les Troyens, War and Peaceand Le nozze di Figaro.
