Natalia Gous was born into a family of musicians – her father was a conductor and her mother a chamber musician – and she began to study music at the age of five with her father. By the age of seven she was enrolled at the Central Music School for Gifted Children in Moscow under Professor Anaida Sumbatian, whose most famous pupils have included Vladimir Ashkenazy, Oxana Yablonskaya and Vladimir Krainev. She graduated from the school under Professor Siavush Gadjiev.

She performed her first concerts whilst still a student and at the age of eighteen was accepted by the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire where she studied under Professors Lev Vlassenko and Dmitri Sakharov. She also completed a postgraduate performing course at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire under their tuition and was awarded the highest distinctions.

Her main interest lies in chamber music, and she has been “spotted” at several competitions including the Sarasate Competition (1997) at which she was a prize-winner and received the title of “Best Pianist” of the competition.

A partner of the violinist Graf Mourja since 1996, she has regularly performed with him at the world’s most prestigious festivals and concert halls, among them the Thйвtre de la Ville, the Thйвtre du Chвtelet, Maison de Radio France, Salle Olivier Messiaen and the Concertgebouw.

Recordings of Natalia Gous with Graf Mourja for Harmonia Mundi (a Stravinsky-Szymanowski released in 2003 and The Wandering Violin released in 2004) took many top French awards including the Diapason d’Or, the Choc du Monde de la Musique, the Йvйnement du mois de rйpertoire (Classica), Le Choix de France Inter and the RTL Classique d’Or as well as rave reviews in The Strad magazine and Le Monde.

Since 1993 she has taught at the Central School of Music in Moscow and she performs recitals and with orchestras throughout Russia.
