Daniel Zaretsky
Organist
Was born in Leningrad in 1964, and studied piano and organ performance at the Leningrad State Conservatory. He completed his ConcertDiploma and Teaching Certificate in 1989 under the direction of ProfessorsE.Bazanov and N.Oksentjan. From 1991 to 1993 he continued his studies at the Sibelius Music Academy in Helsinki ( Finland ) with Professor Kari Jussila, graduating with the Concert Diploma with honours. In addition he has supplemented his studies in several Master-classes in Western Europe, including those of Guy Bovet, Marie-Claire Alain, Harald Vogel, Ludger Lohmann, Jean Guillou, David Sanger, Hans Fagius, Michael Radulescu, Daniel Roth, Peter Planyavsky.
D.Zaretsky has performed since 1988 in all the former Soviet Union‘s important venues, including the Philharmonic Halls of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Cathedral of Riga, as well as in Czechoslovakia, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Great Britain, South America and the USA ( 1-st appearance - Stanford University 1995, 2 concert tours in 1997, 2000 ).
In 1991 he won the National Organ Competition and took Third Prize in the Speyer International Organ Competition in Germany. In 1990 he was a finalist in the International Organ Competition in Ragusa, Italy, and in 1993 in Lahti, Finland.He has also made recordings for Russian, Latvian, Swiss, German and Danishradios. At the moment he is Organist of the famous St.Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, and teaches the organ at the Music College of St. Petersburg‘s Conservatory.
