Pascal Merat

Lighting Designer
From 1974-1980 Pascal Merat worked as the lighting designer on productions at the Theatre du Silence, headed by Jacques Garnier and Brigitte Lefevre. He later worked for seven years at the Bouffes du Nord theatre with Peter Brook, designing the lighting for various productions including La tragedie de Carmen and Mahabharata. His work on Klaus Michael Gruber?s production of Le Recit de la servante Zerline with Jeanne Moreau is particularly noteworthy.

Pascal Merat has also designed the lighting for many productions by Lluis Pasqual at the Comedie Francaise, the Theatre de l?Europe a l?Odeon, the Cour d?Honneur du Palais des Papes d?Avignon, the Theatre du Chatelet and opera houses in Lisbon, Bilbao, Seville, Madrid, Milan (La Scala), Bologna, Turin, Catane and Amsterdam.
His most recent works in opera include Il trittico, Carmen, Love for Three Oranges, Tosca, Gilbert Deflo?s Orfeo, La sonnambula and Marianne (staged by Waldemar Kamer) Don Pasquale (staged by Rita de Lauteriis) and Il turco in Italia (staged by Lluis Pasqual).
