•Recipient of the Seagull theatre prize (for Balakirev the Jester, 2001).

Born in Moscow. Graduated from the Moscow 1905 Arts School in 1983 and from the Moscow State Surikov Arts Institute in 1990 (studio of M. Kurilko), receiving the gold medal from the Academy of Arts for her degree work (stage and costume design for King Lear). Maria Danilova is one of the leading theatre artists in Russia. She has worked with many renowned stage directors, among them Pyotr Fomenko, Mark Zakharov and Konstantin Raikin. She has collaborated with theatres such as the Moscow Chekhov Artistic Academic Theatre, Fomenko‘s Studio, The Satirikon, Lenkom and the Vakhtangov Theatre.

Her most recent works include The Gambler, The Snow Maiden, Eugene Onegin (Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow), The Queen of Spades (Nбrodnн Divadlo Opera, Prague), Falstaff (opera houses in Lьbeck, Germany, and Ostrava, Czech Republic), Die Fledermaus (Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, Moscow), La traviata, I pagliacci and Cavalleria rusticana (New Opera, Moscow), The Forest (Comйdie-Franзaise, Paris) and The Nose (Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg).
