Born in Lithuania, Vilija and Tomas began their studies in Vilnius, and then continued in Zurich and Rostock with Konstantin Sherbakov, Friedemann Rieger, and Volker Stenzl. They received valuable impulses in master classes with Rudolf Buchbinder, Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen. Established in 2000, the Poskute and Daukantas duo has won several first prizes at international music competitions such as the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Citta di Pavia, the Concorso Internazionale Camillo Togni, Brescia and the Concorso Pianistico Internazionale, Repubblica San Marino. Vilija Poskute and Tomas Daukantas have given concerts in Zurich?s Tonhalle and performed a live broadcast with the Radio Suisse Romande. The duo has also recorded works of Saint-SaŠµns on the ARS label. In 2005 Poskute and Daukantas won the Second Prize (First Prize not awarded) at the 54th ARD International Music Competition.
