Born in Murmansk. Graduated from the vocal faculty of the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1997 (class of Professor Minzhilkiev). Took part in performances of the State Theatre of the St Petersburg Conservatoire. Mariinsky Theatre soloist from 1996.
Repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre includes: Ruslan (Ruslan and Lyudmila), Boris Godunov(Boris Godunov), Prince Igor (Prince Igor), the Demon (The Demon), Tomsky (The Queen of Spades), Gryaznoi (The Tsar?s Bride), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), the Dutchman (Der Fliegende Hollander), Wotan (Das Rheingold and Siegfried), Amfortas (Parsifal), Jokanaan (Salome).
Has toured with the Mariinsky Theatre to Italy, Austria, Finland, the USA, Israel, Turkey and Great Britain.
Recordings include: Boris Godunov (1997, conducted by Valery Gergiev) and Semyon Kotko (2000, conducted by Valery Gergiev) with Philips Classics.
