Marina Poplavskaya

Soloist

Marina was born in Moscow and studied at the M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov Music Institute. She is a prize-winner of numerous competitions, including: the First Prize at the «Bella Voce» Russian National Competition for Young Singers (1997), the Second Prize at the First International Elena Obraztsova Competition (1999), a special prize of the Queen Elizabeth International Competition (2000), the Third Prize at the Rimsky-Korsakov International Competition (2003), the First Prize of the Romanciada International Competition (2004) and finally the Grand Prix of the Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens in 2005. She performed at the New Opera Theatre, Moscow in1996 — 1998 and was a soloist at the Moscow Academic Opera Theatre in 2001 — 2004. She made her debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in 2003 as Ann Truelove (The Rake’s Progress), followed in 2004 by Maria (Mazeppa) and has a soloist’s contract with the theatre.
