VIENNA PHILHARMONIC

Orchestra

Conductor and soloist—Daniel BARENBOIM (Israel)

The Vienna Philharmonic’s tour in Moscow represents renewal of collaboration between one of the first European philharmonic societies and the Moscow Philharmonic Society celebrating the 85 anniversary in January, 2007. For the first time the orchestra has appeared on stage of the Moscow Philharmonic society 45 years ago, in 1962, under direction of Herbert von Karayan (then Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony was performed). “Arrival of the Vienna Philharmonic was the largest event in our musical life. It was possible once again to be convinced in the huge shaping force of musical art serving by remarkable means of rapproachement of people and their cultures,” conductor A.Gauk wrote after the concert.

The Vienna Philharmonic is one of national properties of Austria, the ambassador of the world, humanism and reconciliation. The orchestra has received set of awards, gold and platinum disks, national premiums for the art achievements, memberships in many honourable cultural formations. The orchestra’s reputation annually has been proved by prestigious premiums and ranks. In 2006 the Vienna Philharmonic has took the top line in ten of the best European orchestras in a rating of authoritative French magazine “World of music”.

During many years the orchestra gives concerts with an outstanding Israeli conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim. The World famous musician, Music Director of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, the Dresden Chapel’s orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Daniel Barenboim has been selected by the Chief invited conductor of La Scala.
