Sergei Redkin was born
on 27 October 1991 in Krasnoyarsk. He began to play
the piano at the age of six. from 1998 he studied
at the Municipal Music Lyceum of the Krasnoyarsk State
Academy of Music and Theatre under Galina Boguslavskaya (piano) and Eduard
Markaich (improvisation). in 2004 he entered the Middle Specialised
School of Music of the St Petersburg State Conservatoire, classes
of Olga Kurnavina (piano) and Professor Alexander Mnatsakanian
of the St Petersburg Conservatoire (composition). Having graduated
from the school with distinction, in 2009 he entered the St
Petersburg State Conservatoire itself (class of Alexander Sandler).
Since 2011 he has trained at the International Piano Academy Lake
Como (Italy) under William Grant Naborй with the support
of the St Petersburg House of Music.
Prize-winner at numerous Russian and international competitions including
the III International Sergei Rachmaninoff Music Festival and
Competition (St Petersburg, 2005), the VI International
Baltic Sea Nations Young Pianists’ Competition Dedicated to the Works
of Frйdйric Chopin (Estonia, 2006), the III Moscow Genrikh
Neigauz Festival of Young Pianists (2008), the VII International
Konstantin Igumnov Young Pianists’ Competition (Lipetsk, 2008),
the I International Dmitry Shostakovich Competition of Chamber
Ensembles and Piano Duets (together with the Juventa trio,
Moscow, 2008), the New Names Young Musicians’ International
Competition (together with the Juventa trio, Moscow 2008),
the Chopin-2010 Festival and Competition
(the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, 2010) and
the VIII International Ignacy Paderewski Piano Competition (Bydgoszcz,
Poland, 2010).

the Baltika Youth Chamber Orchestra under Pavel Smelkov (St
Petersburg) and the Youth to Youth programme
of the innovative project Open Stage set up
by the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation (Moscow)
as well as projects run by the St Petersburg House of Music
and the XV International Festival Musical Olympus (President
–Irina Nikitina).
He has given concerts on tour in Germany, Poland, Switzerland,
the United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Sweden and Italy. He has performed
at the Great and Small Halls of the St Petersburg
Philharmonic, the Mariinsky and Hermitage Theatres, the State Academic
Cappella and the Konstantin, Catherine and Beloselsky-Belozersky Palaces.
He has performed with orchestras under such conductors as Alexander
Chernushenko, Anatoly Rybalko, Alexander Polishchuk, Arkady Steinlucht, Mikhail
Shcherbakov, Pavel Smelkov, Fabio Mastrangelo, Eyyub Kuliev and Marek
Pijarowski. Has taken part in master-classes given by Dmitri
Shteinberg, Alexander Bonduryansky, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Andrzej Jasiсski,
Nikolai Petrov, Dmitri Bashkirov, William Grant Naborй, Malcolm Bilson, John
Perry, Vladimir Mishchuk, Fou Ts’ong and Peter Frankl.
