• Recipient of the Hope of Russia prize (2007).

Born in Leningrad.
Graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 2008 (class of Gennady Selyutsky).
Joined the Mariinsky Ballet the same year.

As part of the Mariinsky Theatre’s Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers project, in 2013 Ilya Zhivoi staged the choreographic miniature Chess Move E2. Hardly to music by Antonín Dvořák using excerpts from a recording of Jupiter’s magnetic field (NASA Space Sounds); this was followed in 2014 by the one-act ballet Adulte to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Tosya Chaikina.

Has toured with the Mariinsky Ballet to the USA, the UAE, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Great Britain.
