Patrice Caurier was born in Paris and Moshe Leiser in Antwerp. They met and decided to work together as opera directors in 1982. Their first work was Benjamin Britten?s A Midsummer Night?s Dream at the Opera de Lyon. Since then, they have staged more than sixty opera productions in various theatres around the world, gaining them international recognition and acclaim.
In recent years, their work has been staged at venues such as the Grand Theatre de Geneve, Switzerland (Wagner?s Ring Cycle and Pelleas et Melisande), the Opera de Lausanne (The Nose by Shostakovich), Covent Garden, London (La cenerentola), the Welsh National Opera, Cardiff (Fidelio and Leonore) and the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris (Lucia de Lammermoor).
Future plans include Hamlet and Madama Butterfly at Covent Garden, Eugene Onegin at the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris, Don Carlos at the Grand Theatre de Geneve, Lucia di Lammermoor for Chicago Lyric Opera, Hamlet for the Liceo Barcelona and Shakespeare?s Hamlet at drama theatres in Paris and Montreal.
