Born in Rostov on Don in 1969. Has worked in Rostov on Don since 1994. In Moscow he staged the first production of Sigarev?s Plasticine at the Centre of Drama and Directing under Alexander Kazantsev and Mikhail Roshchin. Other works staged in Moscow include Ravenhill?s Some Explicit Polaroids (Pushkin Theatre), the Presnyakov brothers? Terrorism and Playing the Victim, Gorky?s Meshane, Ostrovsky?s The Forest, Saltykov-Shchedrin?s The Golovlevs (Chekhov MKhAT (Moscow Artistic Academic Theatre)), Tennessee Williams? Sweet Bird of Youth, Kononov?s The Naked Pioneer (Sovremennik Theatre), Larsson?s AD (Centre of Drama and Directing under Alexander Kazantsev and Mikhail Roshchin), Lermontov?s The Demon (814 Theatre Association) and Honneger?s Jeanne d‘Arc au bucher (Moscow International House of Music as part of the festival Vladimir Spivakov Invites...).
Since 1991 he has worked in television and since 1998 in cinema. Has directed the films The Swallow, Secrets of Thunderstorm, Rostov-Papa, Naked, Diary of a Murderer and Bed Stories. In 1999 Kirill Serebrennikov was awarded the TEFI National Television Prize. Recipient of the Triumph youth prize (2001), the Stanislavsky Prize (2005) and the Seagull and Crystal Turandot theatre prizes.
