As visitors enter the museum, they step into the breathtaking interiors of the Winter Palace, once the official residence of the Russian tsars. The grand Jordan Staircase, adorned with marble columns, gilded ornamentation, and sweeping chandeliers, sets the tone for the remarkable galleries that follow.
Inside the museum, guests explore an immense collection that spans more than three million works of art and cultural artifacts. Among the highlights are masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance, including paintings by Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, alongside works by Titian and Caravaggio. The Dutch and Flemish galleries feature extraordinary works by Rembrandt, Rubens, and Van Dyck, while the Spanish collection includes powerful paintings by Velázquez and El Greco.
Visitors will also encounter one of the world’s finest collections of French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, with iconic works by Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Gauguin, and Van Gogh. Beyond painting, the Hermitage reveals treasures of ancient civilizations, from Egyptian mummies and Greek sculptures to Roman mosaics and Scythian gold.
The experience is enriched by the museum’s historic interiors: the dazzling Knight’s Hall, filled with medieval armor; the elegant Italian Skylight Rooms; and the lavish Golden Drawing Room, which preserves the atmosphere of imperial court life.
Walking through the Hermitage is not simply a museum visit — it is an immersion into the artistic heritage of the world and the grandeur of Russia’s imperial past.
